My Facebook Poem

May 2, 2009

Dixon was addicted to a Facebook application;
We thought it was not even worth a mention.
Four of us joined FB and added Fighters’ club,
To see what it was and give Dixon a snub.

And then it happened, I don’t know how.
My friends laughed at Dixon, but I had to bow.
FC was addictive, FC was fun,
My mom though that FB took away her son.

Tireless nights I spent in front of my laptop,
Jumping in fights and trying to be on top.
A small team I was in, called FC_Fighters,
We were so small that we were a bunch of losers.

It was then that I added a few random strangers,
And saw the fights with all its dangers.
I then saw Cheryl, Susan, Mathew and more,
Jumping in fights and never going sore.

That is when I got all dreamy,
And asked the Gronks if they would recruit me.
Susan said yes, and so did Cherry,
I was in to join the fun and make merry.

Popa and Dial-up were always crazy-arse drunk,
they farted so much they were worse than a skunk!
Ryan, Marian, Sultan and Hakeem
were always around to jump and scream.

I was made an admin while I was still new,
I was trusted, one of the very few.
I loved my team, I loved the MSN convos,
We jumped like crazy, we jumped like pros.

Those were the days of amazing fun
I miss them, as now we have none.
That is when the politics started,
The rat cheats had to be blasted.

Rats cheated a lot, scripts, fakes, et al,
But they said each was a pal.
It was obvious, it was just not done,
they screwed the game and it was no more fun.

We were the “light-side,” the name was our pride,
With Elites, Broth, Genovese and KK on our side.
The rats were on the dark-side, obviously,
BHW, Mafia and GFF making it more ugly.

Then the war began, a war of words,
and in the end, many fluttered away like birds.
It was the last that we saw of many a great fighter,
and that only made the situation even more bitter.

That is when I added skype and spoke to many,
Skype is awesome as it costs not a penny.
I spoke to light-siders and dark-siders alike,
Liked some loads and wished others would take a hike.

Tushar admitted that he loaded fights like crazy,
Taxman, Nadheeh, Anna and Oishee made him feel more cozy.
The Skyping days started out real awesome,
But the cheats made it rather bothersome.

I quit Skype, I nearly quit FC,
I thought I would only wait and see.
Things got no better, we blamed Atif for it all;
Some even asked if he were born without a ball.

Verbal wars were then a daily affair,
Nothing was left, except despair.
We decided to quit as there was no scope,
But that is when Eric brought us hope.

There was hope, and it was in plenty,
The genius came up with iTNT!
Vishul promised that it would kick FC’s butt,
To not believe him, I would have to be a nut.

Rohini asked me if I would join the Illuminati,
And I was immediately game to join the party.
iTNT was launched a couple of hours late,
But we had too much fun, and FC to abominate.

Chris, Isthi and Sasitha were around to kick arse,
Fights were many and surely not sparse.
We fought our friends and enemies alike,
The game was awesome, there was nothing not to like.

The Illuminati went on a recruiting spree,
With Chris “the SAKer” Raj at the base of the tree.
We all voted him as our leader,
As there is no better SAKer.

There was chaos, there was confusion,
But nothing could have been any more fun.
We got several big names to join our team,
But to me, my Twinnie was the cream.

The panic fights did not last long,
The richer fighters were the ones who were strong.
Then came the errors, which everyone hated;
We waited for them to clear with breaths bated.

RUTHLE$$ was our ally, they were our friends,
But that was not to last, and we had to make amends.
The Elites have been with us from our first FC day,
With SWAT having pros and TORQUE for those who went astray.

We waited for the first tactical fight,
For in that, we would show our might.
We decided to have a fun run by fighting between allies,
We learnt loads while having fun, and I speak no lies.

We were then ready to take on every Gladiator,
And show them what we meant by belabor.
We did well, but a bit too well,
They started to cheat, and then rebel.

The fakes were back, never to leave the game,
Real players left, calling the cheats lame.
And still we fought hard, so hard did we fight,
We went right on top and we proved our might.

The Illuminati is a group of crazy fools,
With perverts, oldies, kids, SAKers and even mules!
The conferences always have Albert, Heshy, Agni and Dash,
With Benji showing up like a rash.

Shanky, Kristin, Nuzri and the twins are amazing,
With Mercia, Izzy and the rest always blazing.
I am not so regular on iTNT anymore,
But it is something I still do adore.

On FB, I now have many a friend,
And the list only continues to ascend.
Some like the Gronks, Mercia and Vishul,
Who I know for ages and are still cool.

FB changed my life, it gave me confidence,
My writing skills found the right audience.
Some liked it, some did not,
But all I cared about was how good I got.

And thus ends my Facebook poem,
With nothing as much as a problem.
I will take up no more of your time,
And I say this just to make it rhyme. πŸ˜›

    Thanks, all. πŸ™‚

Shanky, I sure did not forget that. It is just that I could not write about each and every thing which happened. If I were to do that, it would have taken me two days to finish the poem instead of an hour and a half. THAT is how much we have seen on FC alone, leave alone iTNT.

Paul, you got it right. It can’t be MY work if it is a short one, right? LOL! Thanks for your comments, guys. Do keep coming back once in a while. And let me know how I can improve. Your comments are highly valued.

Thanks, oh crazy one! I will be back with loads more memories sometime soon. This was a vague outline of a period of over a year. You will have specific ones coming your way soon. And do keep an eye out for those.

Haha! It would not be my work if it were not long. I will try and post a couple of shorter ones too in the future. Thanks, Izmeel. Much appreciated! πŸ™‚

And Rohini, I am counting on people like you. Need the crazy element too, you see. Only, that will have to wait for a few days. Can’t start off with some crazy stuff and end up scaring everyone away.

Well it looks like you have a following already isn’t it. Not bad at all. I thought you were only good for abusing politicians, smokers, dopers and drunkards πŸ˜› I’m impressed. And your poem was enjoyable to read even though long mainly because it lacked depth.

Try reading a philosophical poem this long and it’s zzzzz for most people πŸ™‚
Write shorter ones too next time, even though it won’t be you. Not everyone can listen to you go on and on like I do πŸ˜›

Oh and write on a variety of topics, that will widen your readership.

Hahaha! Thanks Cheryl. Glad that all the Gronks liked it. And poems do make for a decent change, don’t they? My first ever poem. Not a bad effort, uh? Hehe! I miss those good old Gronk days too. Those were awesome!

Ani, I get what you mean. I have been sitting and trying real hard to come up with my next post but all I can think of it the “Why BJP” event that I attended this evening. LOL! I think I will take the day off and come up with something else tomorrow.

You are not the only one who is surprised about this poem. I was surprised when I got done with the first few lines itself. I had NO idea that I could actually write any such thing. But I guess it was rather simple. I had a story to tell. An experience to share, rather. Just had to get it to rhyme a bit. Did not go into the details. Lacked depth too, as you rightly said. So it wasn’t too tough to come up with it. And you can be rest assured that I will not write such long philosophical poems. I doubt if I would write ANYTHING philosophical anyway. πŸ˜› As for my long posts, there are people who are used to it. You are not the only one who will read them. I have friends on Facebook who complain about it all the time and yet read everything that I say. So I know that I can count on a few people apart from you. πŸ˜›

But no, FB is not my life. I di have a life beyond it. Just that FB is a lot of fun and there is no harm in it. You see, I have benefited from it. No matter what it is, it is how you benefit from it that matters. But for FB, I would probably never have got to confidence to start writing! That is what matters.
